We’ve decided to be kindhearted blogger bitches just this once, because even though we don’t like what Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan wore to the season 2 premiere of Beef, we do appreciate that neither of them chose to be generic for the occasion.

In a world of endless beige suits and black pumps, we just can’t get mad at two stars trying to be interesting. Especially when stars all too often mistake dressing like clowns for dressing in a way that’s memorable.

To be fair, this is almost great. We like the pants, we appreciate the belt (and we’re loving that, with the return of belts comes a renewed appreciation for interesting buckles), and the overall style suits him. Our one quibble is with the shirt. The color clashes and it looks too sloppy and wrinkled.

This is goofy as hell but it’s too interesting for us to be mad at it. All three textiles are pretty in their own way and while we question whether the juxtaposition works, we love that this is the most interesting thing she’s worn in years. A dress like this probably wouldn’t work with aggressive styling, but it still feels like the styling is lacking. At the very least, a cuff or a necklace would’ve been nice.
