It occurs to us that maybe we should stop bitching about Ryan Murphy’s seemingly endless string of lurid television shows because at least he consistently gets a bunch of major stars to step out in serious fashion for the promotional work. That’s at least one way he’s putting his Evil Gay powers to good. Even so, we will uphold our end of the Evil Gay bargain and judge the outfits of the cast of The Beauty at the London premiere. Could anyone expect anything different from us? The answer is no.
Ashton Kutcher in Thom Sweeney

It’s a pretty color, bordering on periwinkle, but we don’t really love it for a suit. Not because it’s not masculine enough or whatever. It just doesn’t look like a great color for a standard suit to us. It doesn’t help that the fit is only so-so. The jacket’s very blocky and the sleeves are weird.
Rebecca Hall in Courrèges

We appreciate how weird she is with her fashion, but she looks like she’s halfway through a medical exam of some sort.
Evan Peters in Canali

Nicely done. We’d have liked a little color or pattern in the tie.
Jessica Alexander in Conner Ives

We’re seeing a lot of these gowns with the center ruching and flounce on the skirt and it always look terrible to us, not to mention tacky. The fit in the bodice is terrible. The sheer gloves feel very 2024.
Jeremy Pope in Vivienne Westwood

Wow, he sure does have a knack for wearing satin. Is he airlifted onto these red carpets? Does he arrive naked and get dressed on the sidewalk? The world wants to know how he does it. Personally, we don’t love how big and overwhelming this looks on him, largely because we don’t think satin suits are a good idea no matter how impeccably they’re presented. But kudos to him for the commitment and for making it work.
Anthony Ramos in Dunhill

The jacket and tie are fantastic. The puddling pants are disappointing — and we don’t think the roomy cut works with the fitted jacket.

ABOUT THE SERIES:
In FX’s THE BEAUTY, the world of high fashion turns dark when international supermodels begin dying in gruesome and mysterious ways. FBI Agents “Cooper Madsen” (Evan Peters) and “Jordan Bennett” (Rebecca Hall) are sent to Paris to uncover the truth. As they delve deeper into the case, they uncover a sexually transmitted virus that transforms ordinary people into visions of physical perfection, but with terrifying consequences. Their path leads them directly into the crosshairs of “The Corporation” (Ashton Kutcher), a shadowy tech billionaire who has secretly engineered a miracle drug dubbed “The Beauty,” who will do anything to protect his trillion-dollar empire—including unleashing his lethal enforcer, “The Assassin” (Anthony Ramos). As the epidemic spreads, “Jeremy” (Jeremy Pope), a desperate outsider, is caught in the chaos, searching for purpose as the agents race across Paris, Venice, Rome and New York to stop a threat that could alter the future of humanity. With guest stars Bella Hadid, Isabella Rossellini, Ben Platt, Jessica Alexander and Vincent D’Onofrio, THE BEAUTY is a global thriller that asks: what would you sacrifice for perfection?
