In the awards campaigning game, it can be a savvy choice to devise a wardrobe for the season that pays tribute to classic Hollywood styles or positions the campaigner as someone upholding a long cinematic tradition of greatness. The downside is that you can wind up sporting looks that seem like lesser copies. If I Had Legs I’d Kick You star Rose Byrne picked up her Best Actress trophy at the Golden Globes while sporting what looks like an unmistakeable homage to Keira Knightley’s iconic green gown from Atonement:

It’s a pretty gown, but it looks like it comes from one of those prom or bridesmaid lines that remakes movie costumes. We hate to say it, because we’re huge proponents of wearing more color on red carpets, but this shade looks harsh to our eyes. The seaming is interesting but there’s too much puckering when she moves and we really dislike the beaded trim, which looks chintzy to us. She looks beautiful, and very polished, but we like the dress less and less the longer we look at it.
