A whole truckload of ladystars came out for the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences luncheon. Chanel hosted the event, but not every attendee opted to wear the brand. Let’s assess.
Alicia Silverstone in Andrea Iyamah
She looks great, but she does not look remotely comfortable in this dress, which comes off kind of dowdy.
Claire Foy
It’s fascinating how designers are frantically trying to shove sheer into any design, regardless of whether it makes any sense or of the design and textiles can handle it. This is hideous.
Felicity Jones in Chloé
The gap between the jacket and the skirt will bug us no end, but the skirt is genuinely sharp. The brown boots are an unexpected choice but we like them with the skirt.
Indya Moore
This looks gorgeous on her. Stunning color, elegantly beautiful sweep.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus in Chanel
Everyone’s posing so stiffly that it’s making us think they hate their outfits. This is a great look, but she must’ve felt a little underdressed when she saw half the attendees.
Kaitlyn Dever
Never allow yourself to be talked into wearing black denim on a red carpet. It photographs terribly. These aren’t bad pieces, but you really have to peer at them to determine that.
Kate Hudson in Erdem
Everyone wants to wear these wrinkled frocks lately. They all look like they were wadded up in a ball under a bed somewhere. It’s a pretty design, it a little precious for her.
Katy O’Brian
Kinda love this for her, right down to the footwear. It all suits her and still has the glamour and chicness the event requires.
Kerry Condon
It’s nice, but a little businesslike. Those frames look great on her.
Kristen Stewart in Chanel
We’ll never love drawstrings or activewear on the red carpet, but this is the first Chanel look in ages that really suits her. Of course it looks nothing like Chanel.
Riley Keough
It’s not a bad look, but that is a whole lot of beige for one white woman to handle. The shoes don’t make any sense with it.
Sarah Paulson in Chanel
As we’ve noted before, she’s at her best when she’s working an insane ’50s housewife vibe. Love the coat, but we think it would probably look dowdy on a lot of wearers.

We can’t say the white t-shirt is setting us on fire, but we LOVE the jacket and the skirt.
Zoey Deutch
’90s office assistant on Casual Friday. Why would you want to show up to a fashion party wearing this?
