Fine, Jeremy Allen White. We’ll do you a solid. We’ve been ragging on the star of Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere for showing up in a succession of generic and/or badly fitted outfits on this promo tour. With the Rome photo call, we’re prepared to say he got more right than wrong, which is a kind of compliment, coming from us. We do, however, have one suggestion to make and you’re probably never going to guess it.
Everything is of high quality, well suited to him, and correctly fitted. And now the suggestion: Ditch the shirt. No, really. We’re not usually proponents of men wearing ribbed tank tops to photo-taking situations, but that dress shirt just doesn’t look right with the kind of style he’s trying to work or image he’s trying to convey. We toyed with suggesting a more casual style of shirt, like a flannel or a chambray, but they would both come off like cliches and they’d bring the look down. That leather sports coat is a killer piece. Put that on over the tank top and you’ve got a very Bruce-adjacent sort of look that won’t come off like cosplay.
