Amal and George Clooney came to the BFI London Film Festival premiere of Jay Kelly to deliver a glamour bomb — and also to make T Lo’s eyelids twitch in rage and frustration.

If you’re new here — Welcome! — you should know that we loathe tiered dresses and fringe (also: turtlenecks, black-backed florals, navy blue suits and far too many other things to fit into one already-lengthy parenthetical). At first glance, we were thrilled to see Amal sporting something so sparkly and pretty while avoiding the tacky preferences that tend to trip her up. We can’t rightly say that the tiers of fringe are tacky, and if we’re being honest, we don’t even think they look that bad, but the dress would be improved in our eyes without them. The earrings are gorgeous. The wrap is a bit much for someone who isn’t starring in the film, but George has always relied on her to bring the kind of glamour he doesn’t tend to work. Having said that, his suit is very nice.
