Despite her Louis Vuitton ambassadorship and her long history of high-end red carpetry, Emma Stone never struck us as a fashion girlie, but even for her, the outfit she sported on Late Night is surprisingly low-key.

She can’t not look cute, so all she’ll ever need is a skirt, matching top and pair of heels to be talk show-ready. We wouldn’t claim she looks bad here, but the outfit really does come off like it was thrown together at the last minute. The shoes are the best part of the look and they’re the one part we’d recommend changing. Certainly, if we had the power or influence, we’d try and talk her out of that sweater as well, but if the goal was to show up unfussed and unbothered, then we think a more casual pair of shoes would have made more sense here. Even a pair of flat brogues or penny loafers would tie it together better than those sandals, especially if she wore them with tights.
