Princess Cathy – or Duchess Cathy of Rothesay, as she’s known by the locals, donned a pretty great hat and some pretty sharp naval cosplay to attend the naming ceremony for HMS Glasgow at the BAE Systems shipyard in Scotstoun, Glasgow.
In terms of ranking the Princess Cathy fashion dolls, Sporty Cathy will always be first, but Military Cathy is a pretty close second. We might think picking fashion that evokes military uniforms might be simply a bit of frivolous roleplaying on her part — and of course, she has no true military responsibilities — but that final picture, showing her lined up with all of those representatives of state and church power is a good reminder that she really does know how to embody her role through her style choices. She’d look silly in a floral or a bright pink dress in this setting. The dress is sharp and stark, flattering and photogenic, and as always with her choices, extremely appropriate to the occasion. In case you were wondering, the other Cathy dolls, in order of skill and style, are State Dinner Cathy, Working Mom Cathy, and Garden Party Cathy.
