Da’Vine Joy Randolph came to the 97th Academy Awards to hand out a trophy and to slay the house down. But we admit to being surprised and a little disappointed by one of her choices.

This is lovely. She cut a sharp, impressive figure when she walked out onstage, We’ll never love those hip swags, especially when they gather at the waist with a big old fabric flower, but it makes a nice bridge between the hard structure of the top and the lightly flowy skirt. We can’t say we’re loving the earrings. It’s a good look, but we were shocked and a bit disappointed when we saw what she wore to the Vanity Fair party.

Lady, why did you not wear THIS to the Oscars? Talk about looking like a winner. This is gorgeous and we don’t think she’s ever looked better. The only explanation we can come up with is that this was somehow too difficult for her to walk in, but damn if it isn’t spectacular on her.
