The good news is that Wicked star Cynthia Erivo is fully Elphaba-free in terms of her style choices. She wore two looks over the weekend that owe absolutely nothing to her signature character and that has us thinking her Oscars look will be a killer. The bad news is that only one of those two looks actually slayed. The other was pretty weird. You can probably guess which is which.
IN DOLCE & GABBANA AT THE NAACP IMAGE AWARDS
Pure perfection. No notes at all. Love the jewelry. Her legs look a mile long and we appreciate that we can actually see the shoes.
IN GIVENCHY COUTURE AT THE SAG AWARDS
This is dramatic, but it’s goofy as hell. She’s really well-suited to weird, space-queen looks like this one, but the fringe – especially around the neck – looks ridiculous. The textile is stunning, but it just looks way too heavy to our eyes. It’s a rare moment when Cynthia Erivo is overwhelmed by a garment, but she really does look like she’s struggling with this one.
