Because absolutely nobody is doing it like Janelle Monae. Because Janelle Monae knows that the entire point of showing up to the Costume Designers Guild Awards to receive your Spotlight trophy is to serve up a jaw-dropping look. And because Viktor & Rolf are the gentlemen you turn to when you want to cause jaws to drop.
You couldn’t find a better pairing of outfit and wearer. Having said that, as much as we love the jacket, we’re not really feeling the shorts and we hate the socks and loafers. Still, she’s working that wacky jacket and that’s probably all that matters here.
