Because once that awards season train gets going, it doesn’t stop until it pulls up to the Oscars. The stars all ditched their Golden Globes ensembles and got gussied up once again for the National Board of Review Gala. Since so many of these folks have been, shall we say, a bit overexposed of late, we opted to just cover the whole thing in one rundown. Line up, A-listers.
Ariana Grande in Loewe
The great irony of her playing Glinda is that pink is one of the absolute worst shades for her. She looks sallow and we’re starting to get tired of all the Jackie Kennedy and Audrey Hepburn cosplay on the red carpet of late. We’ve seen enough satin gowns and opera gloves in the last three months to last us a lifetime.
Cynthia Erivo in Loewe
Girl, you dropped your hula hoop.
Daniel Craig in Loewe
Love the ascot and the serial killer frames, but that suit is dull.
Drew Starkey in Loro Piana
Whoever is advising him on hair matters should be fired.
Elle Fanning in Valentino
It’s campily cute in a retro sort of way, but the bow and the color story make it too precious for our tastes. She’s well suited to it, though.
Ethan Slater
Too shiny. Needs a tie.
Isabella Rossellini
We don’t know about this one, Zia Isabella.
Jesse Eisenberg
Terrible. Go home.
Kieran Culkin
The colors look great, but if you’re going to tuck your sweater into your suit pants, leave the jacket on. Also, wear a belt.
Marianne Jean-Baptiste
She looks amazing.
Michelle Yeoh
Everyone’s dressed for a funeral at this thing. This is nice, we guess. From what we can see.
Mikey Madison in Louis Vuitton
Well, she looks comfy and warm, so there’s that.
Nicole Kidman in Jean Paul Gaultier
Can’t say we love that detail on the back, but she looks pretty sharp from the front.
Ralph Fiennes
He cleaned himself up nicely.
