Time to wrap up our coverage of the 2025 Palm Springs Film Awards before the tsunami of the Golden Globes hits us later tonight. Put your judgin’ pants on, kittens.
Amy Adams in Thom Browne
Sometimes we do too much to give the impression that everyone in a red carpet rundown is there because their outfit is too dull for the spotlight. That’s often, but by no means always true. It could not possibly be more true in this instance. As an aside, we will never understand the point of tight, long skirts that look like pants at first glance. Just wear pants. This look would be improved by a pair.
Andrew Garfield in Valentino
We have to admit, we smiled when we got to the shoe choice. Kicks with suits is a dead trend by now, but we can’t help but be charmed by this iteration. The rest of it’s nice enough, but we don’t love that shade of blue here.
Angelina Jolie
The usual.
Édgar Ramírez
We’re never going to sign off on the idea of turtlenecks with tuxedos. It looks dumb.
Isabella Rossellini in Dolce & Gabbana
Zia Isabella never fails to bring the Drama Butter and we will always love her for that. Only she could make this work. We’ll credit those two bitches D&G with understanding what works for her and what she prefers.
Jamie Lee Curtis in Adam Lippes
The queen of Knows What Works/Gets The Job Done style. While we could suggest that her style is perhaps a little stale in that regard, she’s made her thoughts clear on how she intends to age in this business and she makes her style choices accordingly, which we can respect.
Jennifer Coolidge in Etro
If she stayed in the skintight dresses forever, that would be her right, but we love seeing her loosen up her style. This is pretty great, although we think the exposed bra is unnecessary.
Jesse Eisenberg
Zero effort. No further consideration awarded.
Karla Sofia Gascón in Vivienne Westwood
She looks gorgeous, but she needs a pendant and a pedi.
Kieran Culkin
It’s fine, but it’s also in the Gets The Job Done range and we think he could look so much better in clothes that reflect his personality.
Mikey Madison in Miu Miu
We realize the nude color is the point of it, but gowns the same color as your skin will never not look weird to us. This would look so good on her in black or red.
Ralph Fiennes
Sir, you had us until the shoes. You can afford a fresher pair.
Sharon Stone
We don’t think these shades are the best choices for her, but it’s a pretty spectacular look.
Zoe Saldana in Victoria Beckham
It’s interesting and kind of pretty, with a truly unexpected color story. That last quality may be its most appealing one, although the neckline is lovely on her as well.
