She’s free, people. Cynthia Erivo stunned on the red carpet at the West End opening night of her one-woman performance of Dracula — AND SHE IS NOT DRESSED IN ELPHABA DRAG.

She looks lighter somehow. Bear in mind that if she’d been nominated for an Oscar (a prospect which seems strange to consider now, given how quickly Wicked 2 disappeared from the conversation), she’d probably still be stuck working some lightly witchy looks during the campaigning period. Instead, she’s free to stop referencing the most iconic witch of all time and start referencing the most iconic vampire. To be fair, while she’s dressing to match the show’s branding, just as she did with Wicked, we wouldn’t try to claim that this was method dressing. If she’s supposed to be a vampire here, she’s a hot, modern one, not an old Transylvanian one. Love the coat, but we almost felt like that goes without saying.
