Let’s go Innovators! We gave a spotlight post to a couple of witches in attendance at the Wall Street Journal Innovator Awards, but it’s time to round up all of the non-witches (so far as we know) in attendance and point at their dresses.

Hate that bathing suit neckline, but the rest of it looks just fine on her. Could’ve used a little bit more in the way of jewelry.

Girl, we’re not gonna read all that but we’re happy for you or sorry that it happened.

There’s certainly nothing innovative about this dress, but there doesn’t have to be when she’s the one wearing it. She looks drop dead gorgeous. As much as we don’t want to praise D&G, it’s notable that her best red carpet look in years is not a Chanel.

We don’t love tricky skirts like this, but she’s really selling it; partially because the slightly unusual is rarely seen in her style choices so it makes for a pleasant surprise, and partially because she kept the styling so low-key as to be nearly invisible, making the look all about the shape. It works for her.

It’s really interesting how panniers and other hip accentuators have been making such a return lately. We feel like we’re right on the verge of massive, hoop-skirted ballgowns coming back. That should be fun. As for this, it’s surprisingly plain and a little snug in the bust. It also begs for jewelry and she’s got plenty at her disposal.

We’re telling you. All the signs are there for big-ass Scarlett O’Hara gowns to come back to the red carpet. Volume is in and the shapes are getting weird. As for this oddity, it works really well for her and falls in line with her longtime preference for space-taking fashion. It’d be nice if the waist were defined a little better, but doing so might be going against the point of the design. We loathe the shoes.
