We gave co-stars Jenna Ortega and Winona Rider the spotlight treatment, along with Cate Blanchett, but the combination Beetlejuice Beetlejuice premiere and Opening Ceremony (they kind of bled into each other, with several people below attending both) drew a whole bunch of stars eager to show off their formalwear. Let’s assess!

If Catherine O’Hara can’t get a little Moira Rose action going on a Beetlejuice premiere red carpet, when can she? This is insane, weird and dark, which makes it just right for the occasion. We’re surprised she can handle all that nonsense at the neckline. Should’ve worn her hair up.

It’s just as we said when we covered her yesterday: we never have the slightest clue what style she’s going to choose next. This is dramatic, but it’s bulky and it overwhelms her. The style is a little too self-consciously retro, although that might be due more the gloves.

It’s a pleasant surprise to see him in white. Everything is impeccable, although the fit, as it usually is with him, is a little snug. He needs an undershirt.

We usually think formal looks for men require a little contrast, but these shades of blue all look great on him and they’re each distinct enough to give the look some depth. The shirt collar is terribly tight, though.

The necklace is gaudily gorgeous, but that overworked bodice completely overwhelms her.

It’s a vintage piece from the mid ’90s, so we appreciate it for its historical value, but the design is goofy from far away and ugly up close.
