The gown is beautiful, although it would look infinitely better on her in a jewel tone. The bath mat is… not great. There are very luxe, rich-looking faux furs out there. This looks like it was pieced together from craft store items. The somewhat uncharacteristic-for-Angie brooch is one of Callas’s own. From Vogue: “Jolie also wears a Rose Ouvrante 1972 flower brooch, featuring diamonds, emeralds, sapphires, and rubies, with a special mechanism that allows the petals to be opened and closed.” These sorts of things are pitched to the public as a loving tribute to the original artist, but it’s another one of those ways that stars and PR people try to impose a posthumous stamp of approval on their own biopic. Angelina has already said several times in the press that Callas smiled down upon her efforts or gave some other form of ghostly approval. But fine, we’ll take it as the tribute she’s claiming it to be. We just think it’s worth noting that she would never wear this piece otherwise because nothing about it speaks to Jolie’s own style. It looks wildly out of place on this outfit. One final bit of blasphemy: Is it us or is her makeup really harsh?
