“It’s happening! It’s happening!” Did we run around in circles and clap our hands in glee as we shouted the aforementioned phrase during our early morning editorial conference today? Perhaps. We will neither confirm nor deny. But we fully admit that, all throughout the content-light dog days of summer, we repeated the constant refrain, “We just have to get to the end of August and then we have Venice, TIFF and the Emmys, one after another.” Just yesterday, when the pickins were slim for our front page, Lorenzo said, “The Venice boat parade will probably start tomorrow.” And so it has, with star Sigourney Weaver being the first to disembark, in a delightfully classic look for this sort of thing.
Perfection. No notes. We’re not the biggest fans of straw boaters worn unironically but this setting would pretty much top the list entitled “Occasions Where It’s Good and Correct to Wear a Straw Boater,” so she’s good.
