Let’s all gather in a LOunge that lets us pretend we’re royalty planning an invasion, yes? Come on. It’s WEDNESDAY. Let’s play a little.

Zendaya Talks Challengers, Talks to Serena Williams, and Considers Her Future
To her 184 million–odd admirers—if Instagram is anything to go by—one of Zendaya’s greatest gifts is to seem both improbably perfect (so tall, so poised, so plugged into all the right things, from racial justice to voting rights) and somehow familiar, like the girl everyone got along with in high school. “I still have to sometimes try to not fangirl when I’m around her,” says the 20-year-old actor Storm Reid, who plays her younger sister on Euphoria. The two first met over a decade ago, at a Ben & Jerry’s in Los Angeles, where Reid—then about nine—timidly asked for a picture. Within a few years they’d be singing Beyoncé songs together in Zendaya’s trailer. “She’s still one of my biggest inspirations, and I think she’s just so incredibly talented.”

Tim Burton Says Gathering ‘Beetlejuice’ Team for Sequel “Was Like a Weird Family Reunion”
The Tim Burton-directed fantasy comedy, a sequel to the beloved 1988 original, is set for release from Warner Bros. Pictures on Sept. 6.

During Warner Bros. Pictures’ CinemaCon presentation, Tim Burton and the stars of his upcoming Beetlejuice Beetlejuice turned up to rousing applause from the capacity crowd gathered for the annual National Association of Theater Owners convention. Burton walked out first and said getting his Beetlejuice family together again was like “a big weird family reunion.”
As such, he was quickly joined by the film’s Michael Keaton, Catherine O’Hara, Willem Dafoe, Justin Theroux and Monica Bellucci. (Upon walking on stage, Keaton joked, “I wasn’t alerted to the dress code” as everyone on his film was dressed in shades of black.) Stars Winona Ryder and Jenna Ortega could not attend due to production schedules on their current projects, confirmed Warner Bros. chief Michael DeLuca who was joined onstage by his counterpart, Pamela Abdy, to introduce the film and ask questions of Burton and his actors.

Renée Zellweger, Hugh Grant & Emma Thompson To Return For ‘Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy’; Chiwetel Ejiofor, Leo Woodall Also Set
Based on the beloved novels from Helen Fielding, and a previous column she wrote as the title character for The Independent, the rom-com franchise Bridget Jones centers on Zellweger’s endearing yet perpetually single character of the same name, examining her relationships with the dashing Mark Darcy (Colin Firth), and the roguish Daniel Cleaver (Grant), among others. The original film adaptation, Bridget Jones’s Diary, was released in 2001, with follow-ups Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason and Bridget Jones’s Baby arriving in 2004 and 2016, respectively. The three films together grossed over $760 million worldwide. Introduced in Bridget Jones’s Baby as Jones’s OB/GYN, Dr. Rawling, Thompson also co-wrote the screenplay for that film.

Back to Black isn’t exploiting Amy Winehouse’s turbulent and tragic life – even worse, it’s sanitising it
The film is a fantasy that masks the wretched reality of Amy’s drug and alcohol dependence, says one GLAMOUR editor who witnessed it first-hand.

Unlike many other critics, as a cinematic experience, I actually enjoyed Sam Taylor-Johnson’s new film Back to Black. It’s beautifully made, full of nostalgia for the early noughties and despite already getting flak for her singing ability, I think that Marisa Abela delivers a magnificent performance as Amy. But is it an accurate portrayal of Amy’s life? Absolutely not. No, even worse – this is a sanitised fantasy of what was, in my memory as a journalist who reported on all Amy’s battles, a gruesome existence for many years.

The ‘dad bob’ is the low-commitment answer to 2024’s short hair trends
To go with your dad trainers.

The ‘dad bob’ is the latest chop all the cool-girls are gravitating toward (yep, you heard that correctly). We’ve started noticing the chop everywhere we look, and honestly we can’t say we’re too surprised.
In general, we’ve seen the rise of ‘dad style’ building a fan base for a few seasons now. Chunky dad trainers from Asics, New Balance and Puma have given outfits a retro edge (and a whole new level of comfort), while dad jeans have emerged as the boxier, boyish counterpart to mom jeans. So, it was only a matter of time before the trend stretched to our hair.

I’m a luxury candle aficionado—trust me when I say these 21 prove a cut above the rest
Your guide to the best luxury candles money can buy

Fewer things fill me with more joy than lighting a luxury candle. I like to make sure my flat is clean, that all clutter is put away and that my to-do list is ticked off for the day. Then, and only then, will I light my most precious candle and relax.
With spring officially under way, I have been spring cleaning my home and trying to create small bits of joy in my days wherever I can—and that means lighting up a candle. Right now, I have some form of spring candle burning for most of the day, but I like to save my most precious for especially relaxing moments. For example, my Diptyque favourites and Jo Malone go-tos only get lit for special occasions (mainly for when I’m by myself and can truly enjoy them).

A Brief History of Royals (Not) Going Public With Their Health Issues
For centuries, monarchs and other nobles have weighed announcing their private health struggles against the vulnerability of their power.

For millennia, royals suffering from chronic illnesses have found themselves in a complicated position: show weakness, and the privileged mystique may be lost. “Above all things our royalty is to be reverenced, and if you begin to poke about it you cannot reverence it,” 19th-century journalist Walter Bagehot noted. “Its mystery is its life. We must not let in daylight upon magic.”

Sister, Sister: Olivia de Havilland and Joan Fontaine’s Lifelong Feud
The Oscar-winning siblings endured one of Hollywood’s most riveting rivalries, as recounted in each of their memoirs.

“Iregret that I remember not one act of kindness from Olivia all through my childhood,” movie star Joan Fontaine once said of her equally famous older sister, Olivia de Havilland.
De Havilland begged to differ. “I loved her so much as a child,” she told Vanity Fair in 2016. Throughout their long lives, they seemed to disagree with each other about almost everything, making theirs one of the few Hollywood feuds which truly lived up to the hype—so much so that it was a subplot in the first season of Ryan Murphy’s Feud. (One that de Havilland did not care for.)

The Audacity of Lorraine O’Grady
At 89, the eternally punk-rock conceptual artist still gets a kick out of crashing art-world parties. Only now she’s the guest of honor.

For more than four decades, O’Grady has exercised a kind of valiance as she has sought to create a place for herself within the racism, sexism, and inhospitality of the art world. Beginning in the late 1970s and early ’80s, her conceptual and performance art took aim at the constellation of forces that conspired to marginalize artists of color in mainstream institutions and galleries—and women of color especially. Instead, O’Grady found community with the group of artists that surrounded Linda Goode Bryant’s scrappy, idealistic Just Above Midtown (JAM) gallery and contemporaries like David Hammons and Senga Nengudi, who chafed against the way the art establishment rejected the notion of a Black avant-garde.

These Viral Cookie-Like Croissants Are a New Way to Enjoy Day-Old Pastries
The trend has made its way Stateside all the way from South Korea.

Croissants are beloved for their bouncy, flaky, airy texture — crumbling apart in decadent buttery layers with every bite of pastry. But the latest croissant trend is a lot less, well, fluffy.
Flat croissants are trending online, from Seoul to Los Angeles to Vienna to Mallorca to Calgary — and well, everywhere. And uh, it’s an unusual treat. Unlike a croissant that’s been (accidentally) crushed under the weight of your bag or a croissant that didn’t properly rise and pouf up in the oven, the flat croissant is intentionally pressed down and compressed.

English Muffin Bread
Bake all your favorite nooks and crannies into a loaf of bread perfect for sopping up butter and jam.

English muffins are heralded for their craggily texture, which makes them ideal for sopping up butter and jam. This bread is no different, but instead of individual rounds, you get a sliceable loaf perfect for setting out on the breakfast or dinner table. To enhance the yeasted flavor, give this bread more character, and extend its shelf life, this recipe uses a biga, aka a pre-dough, that sits for at least 12 hours, so start this bread the night before.

The Darcy Days Are Over: Leo Woodall Will Play Bridget Jones’s 30-Something Rebound in a Fourth Film
When British Vogue dropped in on Bridget Jones creator Helen Fielding for a glass of white Burgundy back in 1998, the author wasn’t quite sure what would become of the vaguely autobiographical character she’d created. “I don’t know what will happen to her,” she said, cozied up in the candlelit living room of her Notting Hill flat. “I hope I will know when the time is right to kill her off. Though it’s also possible I could end up writing about a 60-year-old Bridget. She could be like Bertie Wooster and go on and on forever. And—would you look at that—Bridge, like every other aughts blonde with questionable feminist principles, is back.

How to Tell Porter and Stout Beers Apart
The two styles may be similar, but there are ways to tell these malt-forward beers apart.

Guinness is one of the most popular beers in the U.S., but it’s far from the only stout out there. There’s a whole world of subcategories within the style — oatmeal stouts, milk stouts, Irish stouts, American stouts, imperial stouts, and more.
But even with so much diversity within stouts themselves, they’re sometimes (okay, often) mixed up with porters. Both are malt-forward beer styles that range from medium-light to heavy-bodied, often contain toasty notes, and can offer a wide range of alcohol by volume (ABV). So how can you tell stouts apart from porters? Let’s break down what each is and isn’t to find out.

The Unexpected Pleasure of Boredom When Traveling Solo
When was the last time you were truly bored? I don’t mean sitting in a doctor’s waiting room and scrolling on your phone, or zoning out during a Zoom meeting and scrolling on your phone, or accidentally watching an extra hour of reality TV and scrolling on your phone. I mean actually having nothing to do and nowhere to be.
I don’t think I’ve had that feeling since I was a kid … until I took my first solo trip. I’ve been traveling my whole life and traveling professionally for the last decade, but I’ve somehow made it to age 35 without ever traveling alone. Sure, I’d spent a few days alone before or after my friends or family joined me on a trip, but I’d never actually had a solo trip from start to finish. Until I visited Bali.

Is This Natural Sugar Alternative Actually Healthy? The Truth About Dates
If you’ve ever been to Palm Springs, you may have noticed that dates are everywhere. The shriveled little fruits are the star ingredient in the city’s famed date shakes and sticky date cakes; in fact, there are so many date farms in the area that touring one is regularly listed as one of the area’s many “things to do.” But dates aren’t just a Palm Springs thing—they’ve long been a staple in traditional Middle Eastern and North African cuisine. They’re an extremely important part of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, when they are traditionally eaten each day at sunset to break the day’s fast.

Few cities in the world capture the imagination of travelers quite like Paris—and few cities in the world can boast the same wealth of luxury and design-focused hotels, whether the palatial grande dames dotted across the 1st arrondissement, or the new wave of cult-favorite boutique properties springing up in further-flung neighborhoods offering plenty of local charm. Whatever it is you’re looking for, you’re sure to find it somewhere within the City of Light.

A German art museum fired an employee for secretly hanging up one of his own paintings
An art museum worker in Germany was fired after he smuggled in one of his own paintings and hung it up on the wall, Süddeutsche Zeitung reported.
According to the newspaper, the employee, a 51-year-old man, worked as a technician at the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich but also moonlighted as a freelance artist.
The Pinakothek der Moderne contains works by the likes of Salvador Dalí and Henri Matisse, which can sell for tens of millions of dollars.
Police told Süddeutsche Zeitung that the man hoped that smuggling his artwork into the museum would help him to have an “artistic breakthrough.”

How 2,000 elderly Swiss women won a landmark climate case
The European Court of Human Rights ruled Switzerland’s failures on climate are a human rights violation.

On Tuesday, a group of 2,000 Swiss women won a significant ruling on holding governments accountable for addressing climate change.
The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) found that Switzerland failed to implement sufficient climate policies — violating the women’s human rights.
The case could influence other European countries, as well as other international bodies, in their decisions about the legal ramifications of inadequate climate policies.

Is It Better to Brush Your Teeth Before Breakfast or After?
It’s a hotly debated question in dentistry.

Everyone knows that you should brush your teeth at least twice a day: once in the morning and once before bedtime. But when it comes to your morning routine, is it better to brush before or after breakfast?
The truth is that few studies have looked into this question and their results have been mixed and limited, so there isn’t a definitive answer, said Dr. Apoena de Aguiar Ribeiro, a pediatric dentist and microbiologist at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. But, she and other dentists said, there are pros and cons for each option to keep in mind.

The recall includes popular liquid laundry detergent packets, including Tide Pods, Gain Flings, Ace Pods, and Ariel Pods, which were packaged in flexible film bags.

The Right Way to Store Cauliflower So It Stays Firm and Fresh
Whether precut, florets, or whole, here’s how to safeguard your cauliflower’s snappy texture and savory taste.

Cauliflower is a cruciferous chameleon. It can be roasted till caramelized, finely chopped into “rice” for stir-fries or pizza crust, pureed into a creamy soup, or paired with pasta, to name a few of its many applications. But how do you store cauliflower to keep it fresh for as long as possible so you can serve it as a delicious side or as the main event in plant-forward meals? If not stored properly, crunchy, firm cauliflower can lose its oomph and flavor appeal. We asked experts to share some of the best—and easiest—ways to keep it fresh, allowing you to enjoy every floret.

20 Italian Sausage Recipes You’ll Want to Make for Dinner Tonight
Whether sweet or spicy, Italian sausage is key to pizza, casseroles, pasta, stuffed peppers, and more.

Whether sweet or spicy, Italian sausage is a fast track to flavor. And if you think of it as ground pork with spices, the range of possibilities blows wide open. Burgers? Sure. Sauce ingredient? Why not. Nachos topper? Absolutely. Our recipes cover every meal of the day and a variety of dishes, so you’re sure to find something to tempt your palate.
Many of these recipes call for removing the sausage casing and crumbling the meat. It’s easy to do: just use a small knife to cut a slit lengthwise down the sausage (it doesn’t have to be a deep cut; just enough to cut through the casing). Next, peel back the casing, and the sausage meat will roll right out. You can then crumble it with your fingers or break it up with a wooden spoon as it’s cooking.
