Once again, Andrew Scott proves that he has an eye for interesting pieces coupled with a complete lack of understanding as to what to do with them. The Ripley star stopped by the Jimmy Kimmel studios to chat about his new series and our first thought was “What a nice jacket.”
Unfortunately, our next thought was “Look at what he did to it.” And look, we get that most of what he’s got going on here, from the white socks to the baggy, light wash jeans, is all on trend, but that doesn’t mean it looks good on him. He continues to inexplicably pair white tank tops with everything and he routinely settles on fits and silhouettes that don’t flatter him. We hate to say it, usually because this sort of comment invites backlash, but it too often feels like he’s trying to dress younger than he is. At the very least, he gravitates toward trendy pieces that don’t play well with him at all. He should be a cozy sweater guy, a skinny suit guy, even a bit of an Irish dandy guy. But trendy guy? Not for him. Everything he wears seems like it would be a better fit for Paul Mescal.
