When we say she could pull off this look in her sleep, it’s because we suspect she actually sleeps in outfits like this, so consistent is she with her style choices. Possible describes itself as “a dynamic marketing event & expo experience, focused on the collision of people, culture, business & ideas,” which means it’s not the kind of event where we or anyone else would expect her to show up in groundbreaking fashion or eye-popping couture. It’s get-the-job-done fashion combined with that old celebrity proverb “Give the people what they want.” If you’re at a convention where Janelle Monae is speaking, this is pretty much how you’d expect her to look. Having said that, we think her public style is in serious need of an overhaul.
