Well ladies (and other assorted dress-wearers), you have your marching orders. While we’d normally stick to the rule that three times makes a trend, we’re going to jump the gun a little on this one. American Primeval star Betty Gilpin came to the Late Show to talk about her insanely brutal series about the settling of the west in America. She dressed like the Princess of Wales for the occasion.

To be fair, the dark red knitwear Princess Cathy wore yesterday appears to have been separates rather than a dress, but evidently, this is the hot style of the week. Betty’s not much of a fashion girlie, so this probably makes a good, unfussy choice for her. The color looks great. It’s a little snug on her, to the point where the shoulder seams are looking fairly strained. We think she should have folded down the collar and pushed up the sleeves in order to mitigate the feeling like she’s wearing a giant sock.

ABOUT THE SERIES:
This is America…1857. Up is down, pain is everywhere, innocence and tranquility are losing the battle to hatred and fear. Peace is the shrinking minority, and very few possess grace — even fewer know compassion. There is no safe haven in these brutal lands, and only one goal matters: survival. AMERICAN PRIMEVAL is a fictionalized dramatization and examination of the violent collision of culture, religion, and community as men and women fight and die to keep or control this land.
