Things are still pretty dire on the red carpet front this week, which is par for the course after awards season and a holiday weekend. We wanted to put Civil War star Cailee Spaeny’s dress at the premiere up for an “IN or OUT” vote, but there’s just one little problem with that. We’re pretty sure all of you are going to hate it.

Or maybe we’re just confusing your potential reaction with our actual one, because we really do hate this. It’s got the two things that always make a dress look a little cheap to us: spaghetti straps and a belly cutout. We keep wanting to make styling suggestions – because we dislike all of the choices made here, from the hair to the nearly invisible jewelry – but we’re just not sure how to dress something like this up without tipping over into tacky territory. Then again, maybe that’s the way you should go with an already tacky frock. Zhuzh the hair, paint on the slap and get yourself as many gems as you can snag. Grab a feather boa and a turban. Really go for it. Otherwise, you just look a little sad and half-assed. We get that there’s usually a scaling back after the flamboyance of awards season, but we’re really not liking the current trend for dour, colorless, poorly styled looks on the red carpet.
