Like Margot Robbie and her Barbie pinks, Oprah has been more or less taking ownership of the color purple all throughout the promotion of The Color Purple. It was perhaps not the most nuanced approach to promotional style, but one Robbie showed up with that sparkly cell phone, all bets were off in terms of theme dressing for promotion. We kinda hope the dress Oprah wore to the NAACP Image Awards is her final piece of purple promo, mainly because it looks so good on her we’re not sure she’ll ever top it.

The bodice gets a little tricky, the embellishments sometimes come off too random, and we’re never gonna love that length of sleeve, but this might be the best thing she’s worn in years.
