Having moved on from playing a pseudo Joan Rivers and moving forward to be the next actress to embody Lois Lane, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel star seems eager to get as far away from the cutesy and always appropriate mid-century styles of her former character and into the hottest, latest fashion she can find. We used to call this the Dockery Maneuver, after Downton Abbey star Michelle Dockery enjoyed a moment of high attention by wearing the slinkiest, most current fashion she could lay her hands on. To be fair, Brosnahan has always had a preference for very sexy red carpet looks, but we think she outdid herself this week at the Critics Choice Awards and the Emmys.

We’re never gonna love those squared off plunging necklines. We also tend to think if you need to deploy straps to hold the neckline in place, it’s too wide. Still, she looks great in black and we love the restrained elegance of the textile.

IN VERSACE AT THE EMMYS

This is exquisite. Flashy/sexy in that Versace sort of way, but with a real restraint and sense of sophistication to it. The construction is impeccable and that color looks fantastic on her. Can’t wait to see what she does when she’s on that Superman movie promo tour.
