Last night was the WSJ. Mag Innovator Awards in New York and color was strictly forbidden! Evidently it’s innovative to wear black in New York! We already gave Princee Timmée and Uncle Marty the spotlight treatment, but let’s check out some of the other non-color-wearing innovators.

While we think the proportions are a little off and that the overall design is a little dull, we were pleasantly surprised by that feather-filled scrolldown. It probably would have been too much to add matching cuffs, but that frock needs a little something more.

The mismatched blacks kind of bug, but that could be more of a lighting issue than a design one. Otherwise, we can’t argue with any of it. It’s a pretty hot dress.

Everything he’s wearing looks of extremely high quality, which goes a long way in making a casual, classic ensemble stand out.

She looks fabulous and we’re glad to see her getting out more after too long away. We just wish the turtleneck was black. We can’t believe we just typed that sentence.

It’s very “Nana’s Night Out,” but that’s not actually a terrible thing. There are too many different layers to that blouse, though. And we think the pants should be black.

The dress is cute. The anklets are a bit much, especially with pointy-toed pumps.

Looks great. Love the little pops of subtle color, although it’s possible we’re just starving for color right now.

We could not possibly argue with any of that.
