While we’re always interested in whatever Pope Tilda wears for her public-facing life, we don’t think her relationship with Chanel has always yielded the best results for her. We think it’s perfectly understandable if she’s decided to tone down her style or take it in a more classic direction as she gets older, but the choices, while sometimes pretty, leave us a little flat. We suspect the house wanted her to bring that sort of New Wave throwback aesthetic she tends to embody well, much in the same way it expects Kristen Stewart to bring a punk vibe to their tweeds.
You were NOT expecting that, were you? We gave you no warning at all this time. We wanted the unexpected weirdness of it to hit you like a slap. Do we love this? No. Not really. The idea is interesting but those fuzzy edges are weird. Love the top half, though. We think this might have required tights or hose of some sort, maybe patterned ones. It just doesn’t come off like a bare-leg sort of dress. Anyway, we’re going to let you fight over this one. Do you not hate it? Do you maybe love it? Are you embracing your weird side? Can the Pontiff do no wrong? Put more succinctly:
