A trio of fabulous ladies were honored at the Ghetto Film School Fall Benefit, with each of them dressing in quite distinct styles for the occasion. That probably makes sense, because if you asked us ahead of time how you should dress for the Ghetto Film School benefit, we’re not sure we’d have a definitive answer for you. At any rate, honorees Quinta Brunson, Sandra Oh and Danielle Brooks served it up.
Quinta Brunson in Miu Miu
We’re not sure this really feels like something you’d wear to a fall benefit in New York, but the weather hasn’t really been all that cold and besides, she looks extremely cute in this. In fact, it’s one of the more restrained Miu Miu designs we’ve seen lately.
Sandra Oh in Elie Saab
You know? That weird bodice ruffle thingy almost works for us. We’re as surprised as you are. Maybe the proportions are just right or maybe the color combination is helping it along, but we don’t actually mind that one, slightly goofy design element. We wonder if it wouldn’t be improved by having either the rest of the top or the pants in a matching red, just to make it feel a little more unified and cohesive. As it is, it looks a little like a party decoration stuck on the front of a standard pantsuit.
Danielle Brooks in Afrm
This is fun and cute, but we feel like it would be improved with a longer hem and less focus-pulling footwear. A pair of black sandals were called for here, we think.
