Halle Berry was caught by the paps on her way to the Fast Company Innovation Festival, which is a thing celebrities go to when there aren’t any red carpets, we suppose. She wore a… let’s call it “interesting” outfit.

If you’ve been reading us for any length of time, you might remember that we tend to loathe two things in fashion: turtlenecks and tricky skirts. What might surprise you is that we don’t actually mind this skirt at all. It’s an interesting design and it looks great on her. The top is kind of cute too, but we don’t think it works with the skirt. You can have a tricky skirt or a tricky top, but you can’t have both at the same time. It just winds up looking a little overwrought. To be fair, we’re not entirely sure what kind of top would go best with this skirt, but we’re leaning towards some sort of shell or cami or even a t-shirt rather than a blouse. It also seems like the skirt should be yanked to the left a little, so that the split is more on the side than the front. Still, it’s a perfectly photogenic sort of ensemble and it does suit her pretty well. Not feeling the shoes, but that’s because we rarely love high-heeled Mary Janes.
