We were going to put this look up to a vote, but then we got sad about it and thought it might be mean of us to do so. We’re such tenderhearted souls, darlings. Mind you, we’re not so soft that we’re gonna let this one fly by without critique. We can only be as God made us and this is the kind of sadly styled red carpet look that practically screams at us to provide commentary. We’re just sitting here being pushed and pulled by forces beyond our controls, kittens. Actually, we’re just opinionated bitches with bills to pay. Let’s get to it.

Oof. We tend to think that there’s a hierarchy of red carpets and in terms of the strictly self-promotional ones like premieres, the red carpet for your Netflix series opening isn’t on the same level as, say, a prestige motion picture in wide release or an awards ceremony. We don’t think it’s wrong that she’s taking a fairly casual and laid back approach to her styling for this event, but we do think a red velvet sleeveless gown begs for a little more than what she’s evidently willing to do on this night. The hair is flat, the makeup is clean, and the jewelry is so subtle that you would be forgiven for missing it completely. Basically, she looks like she’s just trying on the dress. And frankly, she should have put it back on the rack because it’s just not a great design. Braiding just above and below the bust is a terrible design choice. We’d have told her to ditch the dress completely and come up with a casually chic sort of look that coordinates better with her styling.
