And now, a little bit of positive reinforcement. The Rock hit the Oscars red carpet as a presenter in a satin dinner jacket he insisted on describing as “ballet pink.”

Kudos to him for going soft and luxe for the night. He’s always been a guy who knows how to dress for the red carpet, but we wouldn’t say he’s an envelope-pusher or trend-chaser. Pink tuxes aren’t new. They’ve been trendy over the last few awards seasons. He’s not the first man to wear one, but he is one of the least likely. Then again, he played the tooth fairy once, so maybe we’re not giving him enough credit. We love that this isn’t in the normal vivid or shocking pink that most male stars go for. There’s a lovely sort of retro feel to the color and the matching bouttoniere is perfect for it. He’s your 1950s dream date except jacked to the hilt. And as always with him, the fit is flawless. Well done, sir.
