A whole bunch of ladystars came out for Glamour’s annual Women of the Year Awards and evidently the invitation requested that they avoid as much color as possible in their style choices. Let’s assess!

Angela Bassett in Pamella Roland

That ruffle detail doesn’t really work for us, but she looks amazing in white and silver so it’s hard for us to say that this looks anything but pretty good.

LOVE the bag, but there’s no way a dress like that would photograph well on a red carpet. Too white, too much volume, not enough details. It just looks like a pile.

Simple, but inarguable. We don’t think the shoes do anything for it.

Garcelle Beauvais

All of these items and textiles feel a bit too random to us. And we really don’t think anyone but Prince could pull off a lace cape.

Jennifer Hudson in Greta Constantine

This is pretty great. Sometimes, a gal just wants a little Liza in her style.

Kelly Rowland in LaQuan Smith

The design of the dress is tricky and distracting, but her styling is doing a lot to give the look a focal point other than her chest. Not really feeling that silly doll bag.

Laura Whitmore in Magda Butrym

It’s one of the east objectionable feather dresses we’ve seen all season – and we’ve seen a lot of them this season. It’s not all that interesting, though.

Mariska Hargitay

This doesn’t seem like her style at all, but we’re surprised to admit that if you took the tiered ruffles off the skirt, we’d love this for her.

Nazanin Boniadi

Dramatic and gorgeous.

Nicole Ari Parker in Saint Laurent

Why on earth would you want a tail growing where a tail should never grow? Why would you want to haul that thing around all night, distracting from how hot the rest of you looks?

Patina Miller in Michael Kors Collection

Just insanely high impact for such a simple gown. She looks amazing in it.

Sophie Turner in Louis Vuitton

She looks like a Russian spy in a ’60s James Bond film and that can’t be considered anything but a huge compliment.

Teyana Taylor

LOVE the Janet homage and the surprisingly well-executed tailoring of that suit. It’s slouchy where it needs to be but it fits her great.
