The London Film Festival launches next week and to celebrate the occasion, the British Film Institute held its first kickoff Luminous Gala since the Before Times. Hello, let’s celebrate that! Also, let’s judge their outfits.
Eddie Redmayne
Leanin’ Eddie Redmayne strikes again. His bow tie looks like a bat.
Hayley Atwell in Suzanne Neville
This is gorgeous. The jewelry looks spectacular with it, but that bag is kind of awful.
Laura Carmichael
We completely understand why anyone from Downton Abbey would want to dress in hot, modern styles every chance they get, but we’re never gonna love that half-lined sheer skirt thing. The bodice is nice, though.
Lily James in Alaia
The fit is fantastic and the color looks great on her, but that top looks like a bib. Also, we don’t think red is really her hair color.
Morfydd Clark
Yikes. Galadriel, what is THIS? We refuse to believe that she couldn’t snag something a little nicer than this schmatta, which looks like a sewing project completed by someone who’s learning sewing from TikTok. That hem is a disgrace.
Rebel Wilson in Rhea Costa
We’ve hit the wall on pink satin dresses this week. This isn’t terrible, but it sure as hell isn’t fresh. We’re confused by the accessories. They don’t do anything for the dress and they don’t look like they belong together.
Tilda Swinton in Chanel
Chic and quietly stunning. We don’t love Pope Tilda’s hair here, but that top is beautiful and we love the brooch placement.
