It’s the Hollywood Critics Association TV Awards – Broadcast and Cable division! We gave the spotlight treatment to Melanie Lynskey, Quinta Brunson and Sydney Sweeney, but it’s time to judge the whole lot of them There was a semi-separate event for streaming series and we’ll be getting to those lovely folks in just a bit, but for now, let’s judge all the folks that came with your basic cable package, assuming you still have one!
Bob Odenkirk
Bob, we’re here to tell you that there’s just no way to wear a white dinner jacket casually. Since this wasn’t a formal event, we think you should’ve ditched it for a simple sports coat.
Chris Perfetti
We love a man who refuses to get on the Big Suit trend. Granted, his suit really is right on the border of being too small for him, but it’s a cute look that really suits him. We’re almost surprised to see a dress belt, since they’ve become so rare on the red carpet.
Colman Domingo
Can’t argue with any of that, although we do like it better when he dresses in a more colorful manner.
Connie Britton in Reem Acra
That panel on the bodice ruins an otherwise gorgeous, classic gown. The color looks great on her.
Harvey Guillen
This is cute, fun and fabulous. WERQ that sparkly blouse and pussy bow, Harvey! Just check your fly and wear a belt next time.
Janelle James in Alexander McQueen
We don’t think the brown bodysuit really goes with the red pantsuit, but that’s our only complain. She looks pretty great.
Jasmine Cephas Jones in The Sei
It’s a great style of dress for her, but we’re not convinced that color works.
Juliette Lewis in Givenchy
The dress is great, but we don’t think the Wilma Flintstone jewelry works at all. Also, sandals would have been better than… those.
Justin Hartley
We burst out laughing because this look manages the trick of being basic to the point of looking generic but at the same time literally none of the pieces pair well with any of the other pieces. It’s quite a feat.
Lisa Ann Walter in Badgley Mischka
LUV HUH. This is fun, but that color’s a lot and we wish we could see her feet.
Mandy Moore in Rodarte
Feels way more appropriate for fall, which is why the sandals feel wrong with it. We don’t hate it, though. It’s interesting. It just needs another six inches added to it.
Milo Ventimiglia
He looks hot and fine.
Nico Santos
The shoes made us laugh (not in an entirely good way), but we love the suit and shirt. The bag is interesting but it’s pulling way too much focus.
Rhea Seehorn in Sebastian Gunawan
It’s really eye-catching and definitely stands out on a red carpet. We don’t know that we love the design, but we do think it looks pretty great on her.
Robin Thede in Hanifa
Newp. Sorry, but that is overdesigned and kind of a mess.
Samantha Hanratty in Chosen by KYHA
This is a much better version of the Barbie dress Heidi Klum tried to pull off last week — and it’s on a wearer much better suited to it, we’re being honest.
Sheryl Lee Ralph in Greta Constantine
She’s fabulous and she’d never look bad on a red carpet, but we have to admit we don’t love those green ruffles. At least she can find her pockets easily.
Sophie Thatcher in Louis Vuitton
We have nothing against formal shorts, but we can’t help thinking this would look so much better with pants.
