The hottest surprise comedy trio of 2021 is back for another round. Only Murders in the Building stars Steve Martin and Martin Short gamely stood by their co-star Selena Gomez on the red carpet at the Disney upfronts as everyone scrambled to get a picture of her outfit. Or so it seemed through our fashion blogger eyes. No tea no shade against the gentlemen, who are legends and also not known for being notably stylish.

Having said that, we think Marty’s doing better than Steve here. A grey suit might be a safe and generic choice, but Steve’s outfit is a mishmash of mismatches.

This is cute and classic. Hard to argue with. We can say that the color, the short sleeves and the pearl buttons are all not to our tastes, but it’s low-key and profesh. It shows an understanding of how to dress for the context and setting because if she’d turned up the glam lamps or trend dials, she’d have looked a little silly standing next to two old masters. This is just right.

Looks like they’ve lined up quite the roster of guest stars. See if you can spot Shirley MacLaine, who’s nearly unrecognizable in the split second she appears.
