We feel it our duty to warn you that, despite what you see in the picture above, Chanel and Kristen are back on their bullshit. Prepare yourself for the scrolldown, is what we’re trying to say here. There’s little point in trying to soften the blow or ease you into it, so just get on with it.
Do you need a moment?
We had a brief moment of insanity where we considered putting this up for an IN or OUT vote, but we thought that might cause some rage strokes. We’re not actually mad at it. It doesn’t work or make sense and it sure as hell doesn’t evoke the Chanel aesthetic as we understand it, but she remains uniquely equipped to work this sort of cray in the right settings. The Cannes red carpet is like an Olympic-level event for the fashion world and it can be hard to find a way to stand out among all that over-the-top gownery. If nothing else, she delivered a memorable serve here. It’ll never be one of our favorite of her looks, nor is it likely to score in the Top Fifty, but it’s weirdly photogenic and has that Haute Couture feel that makes it so perfect for this venue.
