Salma “Mrs. Fashion” Hayek is in head-to-toe Gucci, it’s borderline tacky, and we think this may be the best she’s looked on a red carpet in years. We have no notes, critiques or suggestions, to our intense confusion after years of automatically reaching for a checklist every time we featured her. Granted, it shouldn’t be notable that the movie star who’s married to the billionaire who owns Gucci showed up at a Gucci-hosted event looking amazing in head-to-toe Gucci, but given the particulars (her style history and the fact that current Gucci can easily lapse into clownwear without carefully considered choices), we’re a bit amazed. Are we wrong? Are we grading on too steep a curve? Let’s assess: The entire look is matchy from the clutch to the eyeshadow, it’s all one brand, and she’s sporting a necklace that feels like it’s too much for the neckline and is honestly a little too flashy for our tastes. Those should all be dealbreakers for us but again: we think she looks fabulous. Back us up here or snap us out of it.
