Emma Watson returned to the red carpet for the first time since 2019 and it’s probably no surprise that she waited for an event like the Earthshot Prize to do so. She’s long been a proponent of environmental causes and hasn’t shied away from wearing sustainable fashion (as it’s defined by the fashion industry) to high-profile events. In this case, she turned to red-hot and rising designer Harris Reed, who provided her with a piece from his collection FOUND, made from old wedding dresses, with all sales proceeds going to Oxfam. She’s more activist than actress at this stage in her life and this is how she manages to combine the two roles. The results are …
Well intentioned. They are not, however, terribly appealing. It still looks like a basic, but damaged wedding gown and the pants/shoe choice are just awful. Look, we don’t expect her to put on stilettos if she doesn’t want to, but there are far more interesting and fabulous ways to pair pants and casual footwear with a deconstructed gown. This just looks dumb.
