On the one hand, these aren’t great shots of Olivia Colman because they give the impression she was ambushed. On the other hand, this is definitely a dress that needs to be seen in motion and these shots give you a better feel for it than if she’d been standing still on a red carpet. This just might be the best thing she’s ever worn, in our never-humble opinion.

Granted, you really have to be into caftans and bold colors in order to love this. Fortunately, these two queens are big supporters of both. She essentially turned it into a caftan by ditching the belt (seen below), which radically alters the shape and feel of the dress, but instantly makes it more in line with her own tastes. As we’ve noted before, she loves coverage, a modest silhouette and lots of drama. It’s a credit to her and her team that they find so many great ways to indulge those seemingly contradictory preferences. Personally, we think the trickiness in the sleeves wasn’t needed and we’re not sure the pleating in the bust works in the real world, but it’s such a fun, bold, photogenic look for a premiere. She continues to impress.
