Style File: Laverne Cox Loves a Red Carpet Moment

We’re really looking forward to January, when Laverne is set to take over as the Head Woman in Charge over at E!’s red carpet coverage, which has been positively execrable since Giuliana (who was barely holding down the fort) left. Part of the reason we can’t wait to see her take the reins is because she has a fangirl’s love of celebrities and a diva’s love of fashion. It should be a refreshing change to see someone who actually gets excited about red carpets cover them for once.

Just look at the insane levels of drama and eleganza she served on two coasts this weekend:

We’re not usually fans of over-the-top posing and swanning about on red carpets, but her excitement is infectious and besides, the gown sort of demands it, no?

In all honesty, we can’t say we’re a hundred percent in love with either of these looks, which are glitzy and maybe a little borderline tacky, but we do love how much she enjoys this sort of thing and we’re keeping our fingers crossed that this kind of purely exuberant approach to red carpets, celebrities and fashion will translate well to her new role. We speak from experience on this one: people like red carpet coverage from people who enjoy covering red carpets. It’s why Ryan and Giuliana needed to go and it’s why people like Kathy Griffin and Kelly Osborne were never right for it. And Brad Goreski’s way too much of a careerist to ever give an honest opinion about any celebrity on the red carpet. It’s all down to you, Laverne. We’re counting on you.
