SAG Awards 2021: Cate Blanchett in Givenchy

Posted on April 05, 2021

It’s never a bad idea to kick off the week with a little serving of Good Lady Cate. The past 13 months have not afforded us the possibility all that often, but God, the universe, GLC herself and the SAG Awards conspired to give us this blessing. Let the Cateness wash over you.

All things considered, it’s a relatively low-key and unfussy version of Cate, which is smart, because this style is far better suited to hotel suite lockdown photos than the kinds of formal gowns she tends to prefer. When she goes formal, she goes BIG. This suits her and the surroundings, not to mention the stripped-bare SAG Awards ceremony this year. The fit and cut are, as expect, exquisite. Love the belt, which gives what could have been a too-austere look some richness. Hair and makeup are perf, of course. It’s a testament to how much platforms are back in style to see her sporting them, since they don’t strike us as her favorite style. Still, she looks fantastic; perfectly walking that line between high formal and practical relatability.

As to the latter quality, if the above shot didn’t sell the idea that GLC is keeping it low and keeping it real this year, she’s happy to reiterate the point for you:

And she still looks amazing.
