Emmy Awards 2020: Dan Levy in Thom Browne

Mr. Levy had himself a night. And he wisely wore an outfit that looked great standing and sitting because he was up and down, out of his chair all night, collecting a bushel of Emmys. And like his TV mom Catherine O’Hara, he reminded us that his personal tastes aren’t really all that far off from those of his Shitt’s Creek character. In fact, this outfit’s only a shade’s difference from a David Rose look – literally.

He’s shown a preference for Thom Browne both on and off the show, which is no surprise since he clearly loves gray or black menswear with an edge to it. This entire look is a slightly less formal version of the Thom Browne kilted tuxedo David Rose wore to his wedding in the Schitt’s Creek finale. Early reports pegged it as an “homage” to his character, but we don’t think that was the point at all. This is what he loves to wear – and rightly so because he’s well suited to it and looks great in it. There’s a pretty clear line separating Dan Levy from David Rose (Levy is much warmer and more genuine, for starters), but it was always clear to us that fashion was one of the undeniable connections between the two.
