Brooklyn-born and raised fashion designer Felisha Noel launched her label eight years ago after opening a successful boutique in her home town. She’s a self-taught designer who draws on her Caribbean heritage as well as her love of Renaissance paintings, looking to place Black women within those rich aesthetic traditions from which they have historically been erased or, as Noel has noted, depicted as slaves. There’s a richness and drama in her work that owes a little to her Grenadian heritage, a coolness that owes a lot to her Brooklyn background, and a self-assured space-taking womanhood that embodies her motto of “Eat well, travel often and dress to inspire.” For Fe Noel, it’s about living big, living loud, and living gorgeously.
