Kittens, we gave you Cathy’s Top Ten Gowns of all time and then we gave you her Top Ten Sporty-Casual looks, but when it came time to compile the Duchess’s best day dresses of all time, we were so overwhelmed by the selection, we had to break out of the mold and do the wildly unexpected thing of serving up a Top TWENTY. Girlfriend wears a LOT of day dresses in her job.
For the purposes of this list, we crossed off any of the more formal events, like Commonwealth Day or Trooping the Colour. We wanted to keep it in the floaty-to-sharp daytime mode that she likes to wear most often. We also crossed off any coat dresses, because they’re an entirely different sort of day look and we may wind up doing a whole list of those down the road. For now, here’s Mrs. Cathy, doing the royal work in her best businesswear (in no particular order):
A gorgeous floral for a garden walk.
Business-like and unusually high-contrast and colorless (for her).
She gives herself permission to loosen up on the styles and prints a little when she’s doing a Royal Tour.
This is her other day look go-to (aside from the floaty print dresses): a sharp, businesslike cut in a bold color.

LOVE this print. The colors are gorgeous and the pattern is unexpected.
Perfect “Dropping the kids off at the first day of school in front of a wall of cameras” look.
She loves herself a crisply fitted bold yellow, it seems.
She doesn’t sport too many American designers with any frequency, but she’s perfect for the Kate Spade aesthetic.
One of her most iconic looks, flawlessly chosen for this occasion to be both photogenic and memorable.
LOVELOVELOVE this one just for being so off-model for her.
