A pretty enough, but somewhat generic gown. We’re not crazy about the design, which feels a bit musty. It’s one of those gowns that could easily be worn by a woman for years older than her, which makes it automatically not the freshest or most exciting design. Still, she’s hosting an event for kids, none of whom are dressed formally, so breaking out a simple, basic, gets-the-job-done gown makes sense. These kids got invited to Buckingham Palace to meet the future queen. She knows what she’s supposed to serve: a little bit of basic, non-threatening royal glamour.

Has she worn this before? Is it new? Who knows? She’s so good at finding variations on a theme that it’s hard sometimes to distinguish her looks. Not a bad thing in her line of work, of course. It’s all about the branding.

“Our book Legendary Children: The First Decade of RuPaul’s Drag Race and the Last Century of Queer Life is on sale now!

The Washington Post said it “arrives at just the right time … because the world needs authenticity in its stories. Fitzgerald and Marquez deliver that, giving readers an insight into the important but overlooked people who made our current moment possible.”
