Toronto International Film Festival: Rooney Mara in Hiraeth at the “Joker” Premiere: IN or OUT?

Okay, we thought we had a valid complaint when we covered Miss Rooney last week; namely, that she doesn’t switch up her look enough. Today, she opted to shut our damn mouths:

The softeness, the drape, and the overall gothy romantic vibe feel like a little bit of a style swerve from her, even though she’s worn plenty of witchy black ensembles in the past. This one feels a little more mainstream somehow. We can’t really come down on a love it/hate it binary. It’s got some interesting parts (the skirt) and some clumsy parts (the waist); some parts that really suit her (the hair) and some that don’t (the face job). And once again, we think a massive amount of sparkly jewelry would do a lot for it, but she’s not that kind of girl. Shrug. You tell us, kittens. Does this get marked as a win for her?
