We’ve been doing this job long enough to remember a time when someone showing up to a CW party in head-to-toe Dior would have been considered overdressed or trying too hard. But times change and if there’s one thing we’ve learned over the years, the celebrity promo machine’s arc always bends toward every greater and more grandiose ways of showing off both product and star. In other words, the stars wear couture to walk down the street now, so this is no big deal.
And hey, as the first lesbian actress to star in her own series as a lesbian superhero, we can’t blame Miss Ruby for wanting to represent a little by turning it out on the fashion front. We don’t like the sheer skirt at all, but the look overall really suits her. It kind of gets weirder the longer you look at it – the frayed check, huge leather waist cincher, dangling D, sheer skirt, and shorts are quite the combination. But somehow, it works for her. We’re not sure who else could’ve pulled this one off, but . we figure no one should try now. She nailed it.
