Before we put the VMAs 2019 red carpet to bed, good and fully judged, we thought we’d throw in some old-school Hollywood red carpet glamour to shake things up a little and give you kittens the final word instead of reading us drone on and on about matchy pumps or whatever.
Which isn’t to say we don’t have opinions and observations, darlings. Heavens, no. First, the color is gorgeous on her but green on a redhead’s kind of a no-brainer. The style is perfectly fine; the sparkle and neckline give it the glamour she’s looking for but keep things relatively toned-down and demure, which is more or less her go-to style. Hollywood Elegance. That’s her style schtick. It works for her, but it’s not always the most exciting red carpet take. She sometimes risks looking a bit generic with her choices. Also: we don’t love the mismatch between the lining of the bodice and skirt. There’s no reason for it and the sudden appearance of underboob with such a relatively classic look is a bit jarring. It’s an okay look. Good color, nice textural quality, but otherwise a little underwhelming. What’s your call gonna be?
