“Big Little Lies” Star Shailene Woodley in Cong Tri on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon”

Miss Shailene’s been working her way through her own personal style evolution and while we can’t say we’re a hundred percent on all of the efforts, we salute them nonetheless. Case in point:

This is kinda fun. It’s got just the right level of visual interest for television and she seems relatively comfortable in it, which is important for a talk show appearance. We can’t say it strikes us as all that fresh a look, which has been an issue with a lot of her style choices of late. She’s upped the boldness and personality factor in her style, but it doesn’t feel like it entirely plays to her strengths. In more concrete terms: keep the jacket, lose the dress (the textile’s kind of ugly) and mix it up with a romper or formal shorts in complementary colors.

We’ve already pre-reviewed Big Little Lies, but we’ll have more episode reviews in the weeks to come. Just know at one point Tom turned to Lorenzo and said in regards to Shailene’s performance, “She just did THAT, alone, playing against Meryl Goddamn Streep.”
