Oh, this should be good.
Allow us to explain. Or rather, allow Pierpaolo Piccioli, designer at the house of Valentino to explain, since he’s the one who decided to commission contemporary poets to write verses inspired by love. Miss Emilia’s: “Leave your door open for me. I might sleepwalk into your arms.”
So what you’ve got here is a floaty, highly romantic gown in a very Khaleesi blue with an actual verse of poetry emblazoned across it with a romantic fantasy undertone to it. It’s paired with some jarringly harsh makeup. We think the idea here was to combine the darkness and the romance of the Daenerys character in one look. And we think if that was the goal, it was successfully executed. But we really don’t love the text on the bust – especially since it’s barely legible. Several fashion sites called it a “hidden message” but that was just providing cover for the fact that almost no one could make it out from more than a few feet away. The style and color of the dress are gorgeous and look great on her. The makeup is harsh and unflattering. We get the idea behind it, but we just don’t love the results.
And you? No, really. We’re asking:
